INSIDE THE GREENHOUSE | Re-telling climate change stories

Youth Voices

In 2014, the City of Boulder was selected to participate in the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities initiative.  The project aims to support cities that have experienced natural disasters in exploring and developing strategies around sudden and long-term issues, such as flood, wildfire, disease outbreak, and drought. As a first step in this process, the City seeks to understand people’s perceptions of resilience in Boulder. The following organizations worked on a number of projects in Boulder, working with the cities youth in order to learn their ideas revolving around resilience, how they understand the concept of resilience and how they can embody the values of what it means to be resilient- improving themselves, and their community.

Definition: Resilience is the capacity of a city to function, so that the people living and working in that community-- particularly those who are under-resourced and vulnerable—survive and thrive no matter what social stresses or climate shocks come their way.
